April 28, 1998 Essay/Report Debating the Shoe Issue

Note: This is the basis for my AIM nickname, chosen because John Denton was the only person I knew on AIM at the time. Also, being written by me at age eleven, the language quality is low.

Question: Did Michael's shoe step on John's shoe on the top or edge?

Hypothesis:  I think Michael's shoe hit John's foot on the top of his shoe. I think this because if my shoe had hit John's on the edge of his shoe, the pressure I exerted with my shoe on his shoe would have caused my shoe to briefly contact his shoe on the edge and then slip off to the side. I also saw my shoe step on the top of his shoe for approximately one second.

Observations: John Denton, (shown as an X) stuck his leg out and kicked my lunchbox. As he pulled his leg back, I (shown as a M) swung my leg out and intercepted his when he was halfway back to his desk. I stepped on directly on the top of his foot. I released my grip after one second.

Conclusion: My foot caught John Denton's foot on the top, not on the edge. All evidence points to the fact that my foot did indeed contact John's foot on the top. If my foot had got his shoe on the edge, as he claims, I would have slipped off the edge as a result of the amount of pressure being applied to his shoe.
