06-07-04 01:03 Reply | Following the theory of evolution, the egg definitely came before the chicken, unless God waved his hand and made a chicken appear or something. Little one-celled creatures were made first, they grew into more complex animals, eventually the first CHICKEN EGG was created by some strange creature that we couldn't call a chicken but would probably look very similar to one, and THEN the chicken was born. |

06-07-04 03:10 Reply | I was going to suggest that, Mark, but there were two things:
1) The preevolved form of the chicken I deemed close enough to be a chicken to be called the first chicken. Or something.
2) I got distracted while posting scripture. >_> |

06-07-04 03:42 Reply | Assuming evolution (a separate argument all its own), then you have to have a line where an animal is either a chicken or not. Would a chicken without feathers still be a chicken? What if it lived in the water?
There's some arbitrary point where it's a chicken. Since the first creature to be called a chicken hatched from an egg, then that egg would be the first chicken. Thus, the egg came first. |

06-07-04 09:42 Reply | Mark, I think you showed something that I was trying to show. Most (not all, 'cause I see Michael Vincent says egg) religious people say the chicken came first and most Atheist/Agnostic people say the egg came first. And I think this may actually have a lot to do with the Creationism/Evolution idea that's ingrained in our heads. Following Creationism, it's clear that the chicken came first, and following Evolutionism (is that a word?), it's clear that the egg came first.
But if you wanna hear the end-all reason that the egg came first, indisputably, here it is. Dinosaurs laid eggs.

06-08-04 05:31 Reply | And God might not have directly made the chikkin in The Beginning *dun dun dun*. Mark's theory is probably the closest to correct. Something probably had some mutagen affect its young and make TEH CHIKKIN.
The end. |

04-14-05 05:01 Reply | actually, neither. it was the DNA sequence. following the MV idea, and using his args (because im too lazy to retype them), just that the DNA sequence was created before the egg, as chickens have sexual reproduction as opposed to asexual reproduction. |
